Highly acclaimed as an excellent training course in the field of peace through sport, the Masters’ degree in Sustainable Peace through Sport is open for inscriptions for year 2016/2017.

Created in 2010 by Peace and Sport, the International University of Monaco (IUM – member of the French group INSEEC) and the University for Peace in Costa-Rica (UPeace – mandated by the United Nations), this multidisciplinary program trains “engineers of peace through sport”, who will be able to optimize the potential of sport as a strategic tool for sustainable peace building and promotion throughout the world.

Based in Monaco, an international sporting hub which hosts many prestigious competitions (Formula 1 Grand Prix, Herculis Athletics meeting, Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters…), the course includes academic lessons provided by the two Universities, as well as practical activities in close cooperation with Peace and Sport. The Peace and Sport organization, founded in 2007 by President Joel Bouzou, supports the Masters in association with its network of Champions of Peace and sporting federations.

There are two major highlights for students who follow this 16-month course which includes a 3 – 6 month internship:

The International Day of Sport for Development and Peace which is held each year on April 6. It was launched in 2013 by the International Olympic Committee and the United Nations and over the past 3 years, close to 30 million people have heard about this event through social networks.
The International Peace and Sport Forum, a key annual conference for actors for peace through sport, each year uniting more than 500 leading figures from the international sports movement, the private sector, NGOs, as well as politicians and Champions for Peace.
