5th Monte-Carlo Fighting Trophy supports Peace and Sport field activities

Jun 21, 2018 | News

Peace and Sport and the International Academy of Martial Arts of Monaco renew their partnership for peace-through-sport activities, on the occasion of the Monte Carlo Fighting Trophy to be held in Monaco, the June 30th.

For this 2018 edition, the Academy, represented by Ms. Félicia Pouget, Ms. Cécile Gélabale and Mr. Claude Pouget, reaffirms its commitment to the field actions carried out by the Monaco organization Peace and Sport. The benefits of this sporting event will fund field activities of the “Live Together” program in Za’atari Syrian refugee camp in Jordan.

In 2016, with the signature of a Memorandum of Understanding between Peace and Sport and the Fédération Monégasque de Kickboxing, 8 000 euros were raised during the Monte-Carlo Fighting Masters to support the Friendship Games, sporting events that bring together children and youth from bordering countries in the African Great Lakes region, Rwanda, Burundi and DRC, and which goal is to support fraternity and dialogue between these nations.

The “Live Together” program is led by Peace and Sport in cooperation with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in the Syrian refugee camp of Za’atari in Jordan. International Federations such as the World Association of Kickboxing Organizations (WAKO) offer educational seminars for coaches and training sessions for children in cooperation with existing NGOs. So far, 85 coaches have been trained and 255 children have benefited from the program.
