Feb 3, 2022 | News

After eight years at Peace and Sport as CEO, Laurent Dupont is leaving his position on Monday, January 31, 2022 to join an international group based in Paris.

Under his direction and in close collaboration with the President and Founder, Joël Bouzou, Peace and Sport now enjoys an international recognition at the level of the highest authorities (UN, UNESCO, MINEPS, IOC, Council of Europe, etc.). The Organization is recognized as a leader on its themes, relies on a network of loyal and active partners, and maintains a positive financial balance thanks to a rigorous management and a college of loyal donors.

The departure of the CEO, Laurent Dupont, was prepared under the direction of the President and Founder and the Organization’s Board of Directors. This is how, after a Board meeting on January 26, Jean-Jérôme Perrin-Mortier, COO of Peace and Sport, has been appointed CEO of the international organization based in Monaco. He will succeed on February 1st 2022 to Laurent Dupont.

Jean-Jérôme Perrin-Mortier will actively support President and Founder of Peace and Sport Joël Bouzou in developing the peace-through-sport movement and implementing Peace and Sport’s strategy. With an extensive elite sports coaching background, Jean-Jérôme Perrin-Mortier has been involved in sports development as well as in development through sports, collaborating with international federations, NGOs and local authorities in Africa and Asia since the mid-2000s.

Jean-Jérôme Perrin-Mortier coached South Africa, Togo, and Azerbaijan’s Canoeing Kayaking teams in the Olympic Games in 2008, 2012, and 2016. Notably, his achievements in high performance include heading the training team of the World No. 1 Peschier Brothers from France, and the first Olympic medalist in the history of Togo, Benjamin Boukpeti. Before assuming the CEO position, he has served about four years as Director of the Field Programs and COO at Peace and Sport.

Joël Bouzou, President and Founder of Peace and Sport, declared:

We are very pleased that Jean-Jérôme Perrin-Mortier has accepted the position of new CEO of Peace and Sport. Jean-Jérôme Perrin-Mortier has a broad, unique and extensive leadership experience, which we believe will be very valuable for Peace and Sport. We are confident that he will be a force in driving Peace and Sport’s strategy in a very exciting but also challenging time. I would also like to sincerely thank Laurent Dupont for his years of commitment and hard work. I wish him the best of luck for the future. »

Jean-Jérôme Perrin-Mortier, CEO of Peace and Sport, added:

It is an honor to be appointed CEO of Peace and Sport. I would like to thank President and Founder of Peace and Sport Joël Bouzou as well as all the Board members for their trust. I take this opportunity to show my respect and gratitude to my predecessor, Laurent Dupont, with whom I have worked in a framework of mutual trust in recent years. I will fulfill my CEO mission by innovating and diversifying alliances involving the sport world, the peace world, political leaders, and the private sector in projects that aim at common good. Together, we will spread the peace-through-sport message as far afield as possible.
