Peace and Sport and the Tour de France organized the ‘Ride for Peace’ parade during the final stage of the Tour de France 2024.

During the final stage of the Tour de France between the Principality of Monaco and Nice, Peace and Sport and the Tour
de France joined forces to share a message of peace. The ‘Ride for Peace’ Parade set off on 21 July 2024 at 10 a.m. from Monaco, bringing together some thirty VIPs and athletes dressed in white, a symbol of peace and unity. Led by Peace and Sport’s Champions for Peace, the procession completed the time trial in a peloton to the Place Masséna in Nice.

In the context of resurgent conflicts, this joint initiative by Peace and Sport and the Tour de France is a unique opportunity to remind leaders around the world of the need to invest in sport as a tool for developing inclusion, living together and a culture of peace. It is also an opportunity to highlight the ability of major sporting events to spread a message of peace to a wide audience.

H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco, Patron of Peace and Sport, declared: ‘The Principality of Monaco is honoured
to host the Ride for Peace parade. This event underlines our ongoing commitment to promoting of peace through sport and our desire to see this message inspire the world’.

Joël Bouzou, President and Founder of Peace and Sport, said: ‘With the “Ride for Peace” parade, we want to show that major sporting events can be powerful platforms for raising awareness and and call for peace. From Monaco, we are sending out a strong signal in favour of mutual understanding and dialogue.

Christian Prudhomme, Director of the Tour de France, said:
‘Joining forces with Peace and Sport is a no-brainer for us. We recognise the exceptional work of this
organisation in structuring and giving credibility to the messages of peace disseminated at major sporting events such as the Tour de France.

Chris Froome, Champion of Peace and four-time winner of the Tour de France, said: ‘To take part in the “Ride for Peace” parade is an honour. Sport has always been a unique platform for bringing people together. As a Peace and Sport Champion for Peace and former winner of the Tour de France, I am proud to be part of this initiative and to inspire younger generations.
