Peace and Sport and the Global Esports Federation (GEF) have decided to join forces with the overarching aim to promote and reinforce the role of Esports as a tool for social cohesion, social development and peaceful coexistence among communities.
The partnership focuses on key areas to support the development of youth capacity-building programs, especially for vulnerable youth, as well as to facilitate education and training initiatives through esports. Peace and Sport, together with the Global Esports Federation, will seek out opportunities leveraging on the power of esports to foster inter-community dialogue for peacekeeping and diplomacy; and evolve in line with changing trends.
Joël Bouzou, President and Founder of Peace and Sport, declared :
« Esports is very popular among the youth and their wide accessibility can play an important role in enhancing education and in transmitting positive values. Today, we are very pleased to conclude this partnership with the Global Esports Federation (GEF) and to contribute, together, to building peaceful communities, towards a safer, more equitable and inclusive world ».
Chris Chan, President of the Global Esports Federation (GEF), added:
“The rise of esports and gaming have demonstrated the capability to transcend borders, language and bridge cultures. In addition to traditional sports, virtual and digital forms of sport provide for inclusive tools that offer a platform of connectivity and social cohesion. These opportunities can help to build understanding and strengthen communities regardless of individual stories and differences. We are honored to partner with Peace and Sport and continue to further the Global Esports Federation’s commitment to build a safe, inclusive, and healthy esports ecosystem that celebrates and inspires youth.”
