Monaco – As part of the celebration of the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, Monaco organized three major events involving the Principality’s schools. These initiatives aim to raise young people’s awareness of the importance of sport as a tool for peace and development.

April 3: Princess Charlene Rally

In partnership with the National Directorate of Education, the Princess Charlene Foundation, the Monegasque Anti-Doping Committee and the Parents’ Association of Monaco, Peace and Sport is mobilizing, as it does every year, to raise awareness among the 400 ninth-graders in Monaco’s schools through a variety of sports workshops, drawing competitions and conferences, and will benefit from interventions by Champions for Peace.

April 4: Rencontres Philosophiques de Monaco on Solidarity

Organized by the Monegasque association Les Rencontres Philosophiques, this event brought together philosophers and civil society organizations in the Principality’s high schools to discuss the theme of solidarity. Peace and Sport contributed to the discussions with students, accompanied by philosopher and marathon runner Guillaume Leblanc.

April 5: Inter’Act Day

Co-organized by HCR France with the support of Monaco’s Department of International Cooperation on April 6, this day brings together the Principality’s senior high school students around the theme of sport as a tool for the inclusion of refugees. A conference will give the floor to several refugees who have rebuilt their lives through sport, and Peace and Sport will present the example of its “Live Together” program, which puts sport at the heart of activities in the Zaatari refugee camp in Jordan.
