At the initiative of the Monaco Foundation, the Cité internationale universitaire de Paris (CIUP) celebrated the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace as part of its centenary
As part of the centenary celebrations of the Cité internationale universitaire de Paris (CIUP), Mrs. Martine GARCIA-MASCARENHAS, Director of the Monaco Foundation, and Mr. Bertrand REBOURS, Director of CIUP’s Sports Department, highlighted the shared values of sport for peace during a special event on the official program.
The documentary “La Flamme de la Paix”, produced by Monaco Info was screened in the Honnorat Room of the Maison Internationale. It brought together 150 attendees, including residents, house and department directors, staff members, and sports personalities, to celebrate the Day with the support of Peace and Sport. The event featured five Champions for Peace : Marlène NIDECKER, Diana GANDEGA, Laurence FISCHER, Zakia KHUDADADI, and Pascal GENTIL, who each delivered powerful messages about the strength of their commitment.
The founding values of the Cité resonated deeply with those of sport, expressed both on campus and through Peace and Sport’s missions around the world. To symbolize this connection, Peace and Sport presented a recognition to the commitment of a brilliant student and Vice President of the CIUP Residents’ Committee—to promoting sport for peace. She will soon be leaving the Cité after four years rich in experience and meaningful encounters, as she expressed during the event.
Finally, the collective participation in the #WhiteCard campaign led by Peace and Sport—including Mr. Jean-Marc SAUVÉ, President of the Cité internationale, Mr. Manuel DURÁN GIMÉNEZ-RICO, Consul General of Spain, and Ms. Marian ROMERO, Co-President of the Paris Université Club, among others—stood out as a powerful and much-needed moment of unity.
