The Tour de France celebrates peace through sport in Düsseldorf

Just before the start of the Tour de France in Düsseldorf, a tribute was paid to Helmut Kohl for his historic handshake with François Mitterrand and for his contribution to Peace.

“This celebration of Franco-German friendship at the world’s biggest cycling event illustrates the capacity of sport to open minds and to contribute to sustainable peace,” said HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco, Patron of Peace and Sport in the presence of Joël Bouzou its President, Christian Prudhomme Director of the Tour de France, Anne Hidalgo Mayor of Paris, Thomas Geisel Mayor of Düsseldorf, Laura Flessel Minister of Sport and Champion for Peace, and many personalities.

Earlier in the morning an encounter was held with Peter Sagan, iconic champion inspiring youth, for a #WhiteCard picture symbolic of Peace Through Sport.
