#WhiteCard 2025: A global call for peace through sport

Apr 16, 2025 | News, Whitecard (eng)

In 2025, the message carried by our #WhiteCard campaign – making peace through sport a global priority – once again transcended borders and resonated across continents.

With more than 460 million children living in conflict-affected areas, the urgency of peace education – both as a means of prevention and a pathway to post-conflict reconciliation – has never been greater. Thousands of individuals, organizations, athletes, and institutions raised their #WhiteCard, turning this symbolic gesture into a collective call for a more peaceful world.

A global movement around a universal symbol

Launched by Peace and Sport the #WhiteCard has, over the years, become a universal symbol of peace and inclusion through sport. Once again this year, the campaign brought together an exceptional diversity of participants.

From every corner of the world, the international community rallied around a shared commitment, raising its voice to champion sport as a unifying force that fosters dialogue, understanding, and lasting peace. Now more than ever, sport stands as a catalyst of hope in a divided world.

This global mobilization highlights the power of sport as a driver for change. It reminds us that, in the face of division, simple actions can bring people together, inspire, and transform. Sport is much more than competition and performance. It is a powerful tool for education, social cohesion, and a bridge to resilience.

From a symbol to lasting change

While the #WhiteCard campaign generates global momentum each year, our commitment extends far beyond this symbolic gesture.

Throughout the year, Peace and Sport contributes to the creation of a culture of peace by supporting the implementation of sport-based programs that create real, measurable impact on the ground.

Through continuous fieldwork and rigorous impact monitoring, we ensure that sport is understood and fully exploited as a powerful, practical tool for education, conflict prevention and reconciliation.
