Sports makes a great contribution to bringing people together. Sports not only brings people together between two countries, but also bring people together from whole world. I personally think that sport is one of the best mediums to bring the world together. Korean people were supportive and touched by watching the unified table tennis team and joint march in PyeongChang.

Biography / Awards

In 2004, Ryu Seung Min stood out in the singles at the Olympic Games. A real feat for a Korean athlete. World Number 2 in 2004 and member of the worldwide top 25 for more than 10 years, Ryu is an iconic athlete in table tennis and is tremendously popular in Asia.
After competing in the Peace and Sport Dubai Cup in 2011 (a competition that was intended to promote dialogue, especially between the two Koreas), Ryu Seung-Min decided to get involved in the peace-through-sport movement.
Member of the IOC athletes commission since 2016, he actively participated in the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace on April 6, 2018, by being part of the celebration organized by Peace and Sport at the Za’atari refugee camp in Jordan and holding up a #WhiteCard.
He joined the Champions for Peace club to expand his field of action in promoting the peace-through-sport movement.
In 2019, he was elected to lead S. Korean table tennis.
