‘Corporacion Constructors of Peace International – ONG’ was founded in August 2008 as a “Socio-Sport Project”, and then legally became an NGO in May 2015. Their actions are focused on the locality of Usme, the 5th district of the Colombian capital Bogotá, where football represents an extraordinary community lever.
Since its inception, the NGO has worked to set up a number of social programmes to help the children who are members of the programmes and, by extension, their families in this socio-economically vulnerable area.
How does Peace and Sport support this project?
Capacity-building + Scaling-up
Since May 2021, the organisation has been part of the Peacemakers Project launched by Peace and Sport. The NGO has 5 Peace Educators trained in the Peace and Sport Methodology and who have completed the 3 cycles of the Methodology. Since November 2023, they in turn have become trainers for a new class of 42 Peace Educators.
Coalition building
Since the implementation of the Peacemakers Project in Colombia, thanks to the support of COP COLOMBIA, Peace and Sport has been able to create a coalition of institutional and sporting players, such as the municipality of Usme at local level and the Defensoria del Pueblo at national level, in order to support the initiatives arising from the Peacemakers Project.
